Meet Dan
I'm an engineer-storyteller—someone who bridges the gap between deep technical insight and compelling narrative. My mission is to communicate the exciting potential of a low-carbon energy future—one that’s resilient, equitable, and leaves no one behind. I consult, lecture, teach, and produce interactive eBooks that help a wide range of audiences understand and act on sustainable, high-tech solutions.
My career spans over 40 years, beginning in research and development, where I earned three U.S. patents and two Japanese patents. I hold a Master’s of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California, Davis, and have always been driven by a passion to turn complex ideas into stories that resonate and inspire action.
Right now, I’m writing an eBook titled An Inclusive Energy Future, which explores how people and smart technology can engage with the electric grid to reduce costs and environmental impact—while maximizing resilience and equity.
I’m also a visiting scholar at Portland State University’s Hatfield School of Government, working with the Initiative for Community Disaster Resilience. There, I focus on the critical nexus between sustainability and resilience—another story I’m eager to help tell.
